ICAER brings together astronomy educators and researchers worldwide with two goals: to build a community of astronomy-education-research-literate volunteers centred around the OAE's National Astronomy Education Coordinators (NAECs), and to carry out cross-national comparative research on how students understand and engage with astronomy.

Project goals

• Capacity building: We are creating a community of astronomy-education-research-literate volunteers, centered around the OAE’s National Astronomy Education Coordinators (NAECs). Participants will develop the skills and knowledge needed to support astronomy education research in their own countries and across our international network.
• Joint research: Together, we will conduct research on how students understand astronomy and their attitudes toward astronomy and science across countries and cultural contexts. This research directly supports the OAE mission of leveraging astronomy for science education.
