Description: 마이크로파복사는 파장이 약 1밀리미터(mm)에서 1미터(m) 사이인 전자기파입니다. 이 영역은 전파 스펙트럼의 가장 짧은 파장 부분에 해당합니다. 마이크로파복사는 가시광선보다 파장이 길기 때문에, 빛의 입자(광자) 하나가 운반하는 에너지가 적습니다. 따라서 이온화를 일으킬 수 없습니다. 또한 파장이 길기 때문에 먼지에 거의 영향을 받지 않습니다. 이 덕분에 천문학자들은 먼지가 많은 우주 공간 속에 숨어 있는 물체들도 마이크로파 관측을 통해 연구할 수 있습니다.
