Description: A resolução, ou resolução angular, é o menor ângulo entre dois objetos pontuais próximos que podem ser vistos como separados. Também pode ser considerada como a dispersão de um objeto pontual (como uma estrela), que se deve principalmente à óptica do telescópio. Essa é uma característica muito importante dos telescópios, pois aqueles com maior resolução angular nos permitem separar visualmente estrelas muito próximas umas das outras, bem como observar detalhes mais finos em objetos extensos, como nebulosas e galáxias. Duas estrelas com separação angular menor que a resolução aparecerão como um único objeto. A resolução de um telescópio pode ser melhorada aumentando o tamanho do seu espelho ou lente coletora de luz. Ela também depende do comprimento de onda e torna-se pior à medida que o comprimento de onda aumenta.
