Glossary term: Bulbo galáctico
Description: En la Vía Láctea, el bulbo galáctico es la región situada alrededor del centro galáctico, donde las estrellas se distribuyen en un volumen menos aplanado que en la región circundante, de forma discal. El bulbo de la Vía Láctea contiene principalmente estrellas viejas, aunque con una mezcla de estrellas jóvenes. Otras galaxias espirales presentan bulbos centrales de diversa extensión.
