Glossary term: Eclissi lunare
Description: Un'eclissi lunare si verifica quando la Luna transita attraverso l'ombra della Terra. Questo può accadere solo quando il Sole, la Terra e la Luna sono quasi perfettamente allineati, con la Terra situata tra il Sole e la Luna. Per questo motivo, un'eclissi lunare può aver luogo solo nella notte di luna piena. Un'eclissi lunare totale si verifica quando la Luna transita completamente attraverso l'ombra della Terra. Un'eclissi lunare parziale si verifica quando la Luna è solo parzialmente coperta dall'ombra della Terra. Il tipo e la durata di un'eclissi lunare dipendono dalla posizione precisa della Luna nella sua orbita intorno alla Terra al momento dell'eclissi.
