Glossary term: Eclissi
Description: Un'eclissi si verifica quando un oggetto astronomico viene temporaneamente oscurato dal passaggio nell'ombra di un altro corpo o quando un altro corpo passa tra l'osservatore e l'oggetto. Esempi di eclissi sono le eclissi lunari, quando la Terra si frappone tra il Sole e la Luna e quest'ultima passa nell'ombra della Terra, o le eclissi solari, quando la Luna si frappone tra la Terra e il Sole e blocca parte o tutta la luce del Sole. Se il corpo oscurante oscura solo una piccola parte dell'altro corpo, il fenomeno si chiama transito. Se il corpo oscurante nasconde completamente l'altro corpo, il fenomeno viene definito occultazione.
