Description: 위성은 행성, 왜소행성 또는 소행성과 같은 천체 주위를 공전하는 물체입니다. 위성의 정의에는 인간에 의해 발사된 인공위성도 포함되지만 보통은 자연위성을 의미합니다. 지구는 단 하나의 자연 위성인 달 외에 수많은 인공위성들이 그 주위를 돌고 있습니다.
그밖에도 다른 은하 주위를 공전하는 은하를 가리켜 위성은하라는 용어를 사용하기도 합니다.
