Description: Ein Satellit ist ein Objekt, das einen Planeten, Zwergplaneten oder einen kleineren Körper wie einen Asteroiden umkreist. Dabei kann es sich um künstliche Satelliten handeln, die von Menschen ins All geschickt werden, oder um natürliche Satelliten, die üblicherweise als Monde bezeichnet werden. Die Erde hat einen natürlichen Satelliten, den Erdmond, und viele künstliche Satelliten, die sie umkreisen.

Der Begriff Satellitengalaxie wird manchmal auch verwendet, um eine Galaxie zu bezeichnen, die eine andere Galaxie umkreist.
