Glossary term: 천체
Description: 천문학에서 사용되는 천체, 우주물체, 천문학적 물체와 같은 용어들은 별, 행성, 은하, 성운처럼 천문학자들의 연구대상인 우주의 모든 물체를 지칭하는 일반적 용어로서 사실상 혼용됩니다. 어떤 천문학자들은 천체를 좀 더 좁게 정의하여, 주변 환경과 명확하게 구분되는 물체로만 한정하기도 하는데, 그런 의미라면 행성은 천체인 반면에 성운은 천체가 아니지만 그럼에도 천문학적 물체일 수는 있습니다. 하지만 아주 작은 크기의 물체에 대해서는 이 용어를 보통 사용하지 않습니다. 예를 들어, 양성자 중에는 우주 공간에서 기원한 경우가 있지만 이를 천체라고 부르지는 않습니다.
