Description: Em astronomia, os termos corpo celeste, objeto celeste, corpo astronômico e objeto astronômico são usados quase como sinônimos como termos comuns para todos os corpos físicos e objetos que existem no espaço estudados pelos astrônomos, incluindo estrelas, planetas, galáxias, nuvens de gás e assim por diante. Alguns astrônomos utilizam corpo celeste ou astronômico em um sentido mais restrito, referindo-se a objetos claramente separados de seu ambiente — nesse caso, um planeta seria um corpo celeste, enquanto que uma nuvem de gás não seria (mas ainda seria um objeto astronômico). Em escalas menores, esses termos não são comumente usados. Um próton pode chegar até nós vindo do espaço sideral, mas não seria chamado de objeto astronômico ou corpo celeste.
