Dr Ericson López

Ericson López is a theoretical physicist and Ph.D. in Science, specializing in Theoretical Astrophysics at the Central Astronomical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences. A graduate in Physics from the National Polytechnic School (EPN) in Quito, he has been a full professor at EPN and director of the Quito Astronomical Observatory since 1996. His research covers compact objects, accretion disks, active galaxies, astrophysical plasmas, relativity, and radio astronomy. He has held postdoctoral positions at the University of São Paulo in Brazil and the Space Sciences Telescope Institute in Baltimore, and continues to have active collaborations worldwide. He served as Ecuador’s National Coordinator for the International Year of Astronomy 2009 and the International Space Weather Initiative in 2010, and is a member of the IAU, AAS, Brazilian Astronomical Society, and Sternberg Astronomical Society.

i am a Ph.D. in Astrophysics located in Quito, Ecuador. I study the properties of the ISM with one of the brightest water lines at 752 GHz in low redshift ULIRGs. I am interested in submm, star formation, and masers. Furthermore I am an advocate of gender, diversity and equity.

Coordinator of the Astronomical Museum, cultural manager, and responsible for educational projects focused on astronomy and science for the community. Committed to strengthening astronomy education in Ecuador and fostering initiatives in collaboration with educational, cultural, and scientific institutions.
