I am a theoretical astronomer, mainly studying the physics of compact objects and their binary systems. After receiving a degree from the University of Tokyo, I continued my research in Italy and Malaysia, and became a tenured researcher at Kyushu Sangyo University.

I worked as an astronomical educator at planetariums and science museums. And I am involved in the EPO activity of research institutes for building science literacy of the public. Currently, I teach earth science at university and train elementary school teachers who are good at science. I have served as president of the International Planetarium Society since January 2021, and will stay as the secretariat until 2024.
