Description: Um calendário é um sistema para contar o tempo, em particular para identificar as estações do ano. Os calendários são geralmente organizados em dias, semanas, meses e anos. Trata-se de um sistema abstrato baseado no movimento periódico dos objetos celestes (Lua, Sol, estrelas). Os calendários são utilizados desde a antiguidade. A Lua e o Sol foram dois objetos no céu cujos movimentos periódicos são facilmente identificáveis e que resultam em mudanças reconhecíveis na passagem dos dias, semanas, meses e estações. Os calendários podem ser baseados no ciclo lunar mensal (calendários lunares), no ano solar (calendários solares) ou serem calendários lunares com dias adicionais para corresponder ao ano solar (calendários lunissolares). Existe uma grande variedade de calendários em todo o mundo, resultado do patrimônio astronômico local.
