The richness and complexity of science and mathematics is embodied in Astronomy, a subject that also sparks public imagination. Astronomical discoveries and concepts are conveyed in imagery, and sometimes sound. We created the STEM Career Exploration Lab knowing that many individuals can benefit from alternative methods of information presentation, such as tactile resources. We used many methods and technologies including the utility of 3D printing to translate astronomical research data into tactile, textured forms. We describe details of our project in which we assessed students’ and educators’ interactions with the materials. We determined the 3D prints do stimulate interest in science, as well 3D printing technology, and help students improve their understanding of astronomical topics.
