Talk - Touching The Stars. Modular Constellations For Multisensory Learning

This project introduces modular, Arduino-based multisensory tablets translating astronomical data into tactile, visual, and acoustic stimuli. Using Cassiopeia constellation, apparent magnitude is mapped via LED brightness, sound frequency/volume, and textures (bolts, wires), letting users navigate stellar layouts through touch and capacitive sensors. This DIY design allows custom data mapping, fostering deeper cognitive processing. Tested in teacher workshops, these tools prove highly effective pedagogically: they clarify abstract concepts (like apparent vs. absolute brightness) for sighted users while ensuring accessibility for visually impaired learners. By building models, users shift from passive observers to active explorers, transforming astronomy into a personal, user-driven journey
