Talk - Multi-Sensory Workshops And Planetarium Shows With Neurodivergent Audiences

As part of the Audio Universe project we create educational resources for use in planetariums, science centres, and schools. Through multi-sensory shows and workshops, our original focus was providing accessible resources for blind and low vision children. However, serendipitously we discovered benefits for some neurodivergent children. Therefore, we’ve been exploring how to effectively use our resources with these groups. We will present some preliminary lessons learnt from using the resources with very high need groups and schools specialising in autistic children. We would be delighted to receive input from the wider community as we collate our resources and provide guidance for planetariums and science centres for using educational materials with neurodivergent audiences.
