Talk - Agn Feedback Through The Eyes Of Radio Astronomy
Emmy Escott
Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) are galaxies that host accreting supermassive black holes. These powerful sources inject enormous amounts of energy into their surroundings, influencing how galaxies evolve through AGN feedback.
Radio astronomy provides a unique window into AGN feedback revealing both aged emission from past AGN activity and recently accelerated particles associated with jets. Together, these observations allow astronomers to understand the impact AGN have on host galaxies.
I will introduce AGN feedback and discuss both evidence for its role in galaxy evolution. I will highlight the crucial role of radio astronomy in revealing the influence of AGN on their host galaxies, and present cutting-edge research being undertaken with the latest generation of radio facilities.
