الوصف: الظل هو منطقة يُحجب فيها الضوء الصادر من مصدر ما بفعل اعتراض جسم آخر له. فعلى سبيل المثال، أثناء الكسوف الكلي للشمس، يحجب القمر ضوء الشمس ويلقي بظله على جزء من سطح الأرض.

يتجه الظل دائماً في الاتجاه المعاكس لمصدر الضوء.
