Glossary term: Système solaire
Description: Tous les objets soumis à l'influence gravitationnelle du Soleil font partie du système solaire. Outre le Soleil au centre, le Système solaire comprend les huit planètes (Mercure, Vénus, Terre, Mars, Jupiter, Saturne, Uranus et Neptune), leurs lunes, les planètes naines, les astéroïdes, les comètes, les météoroïdes et d'autres objets de la ceinture de Kuiper et au-delà, ainsi que des satellites artificiels et des sondes spatiales. On pense que le Système solaire s'étend jusqu'à 100 000 unités astronomiques du Soleil dans ce que l'on appelle le nuage d'Oort, composé de milliards d'objets glacés.
