Description: Triton est la plus grande lune de la planète Neptune. Elle est plus grande que Pluton et, en fait, en raison des propriétés inhabituelles de son orbite et de ce que nous savons de sa composition, Triton pourrait bien être une planète naine capturée par Neptune. Triton a une surface glacée, avec de la glace d'eau recouverte d'une couche d'azote gelé, entourant un noyau essentiellement rocheux. Voyager 2, jusqu'à présent la seule sonde spatiale à avoir visité Triton, a découvert que la lune est géologiquement active, avec des geysers soufflant de l'azote gazeux, et très probablement des volcans de glace ("cryovolcans") - analogues aux volcans terrestres, mais avec de l'eau et de l'ammoniaque au lieu de roches liquéfiées.
