Glossary term: परावर्ती दूरदर्शी

Description: परावर्ती दूरदर्शी किंवा मिरर टेलिस्कोपमध्ये, मुख्य ऑप्टिकल घटक म्हणजे, "प्राथमिक आरसा", जो टेलिस्कोपमध्ये पडणारा प्रकाश गोळा करतो. मिरर टेलिस्कोप अनेक वेळा प्राथमिक मिररच्या व्यासाद्वारे वैशिष्ट्यीकृत असतात, लहान हौशी दुर्बिणी दहा सेंटीमीटर व्यास असणाऱ्या ते जगात वापरल्या जाणाऱ्या व्यावसायिक दुर्बिणीमध्ये सर्वात मोठे घन आरशांचे आठ मीटरपर्यंत व्यास आहेत. तरीही अनेक आरशाचे विभाग एकत्र करून मोठे संकलन क्षेत्र मिळू शकते, जे नंतर मोठ्या घन आरशाप्रमाणेच कार्य करतात. मिरर टेलिस्कोपचे अनेक प्रकार आहेत. उदाहरणार्थ, न्यूटोनियन टेलिस्कोपमध्ये, प्राथमिक आरशातून येणारा प्रकाश एका लहान, सपाट आरशाद्वारे नेत्रभिंग किंवा कॅमेरामध्ये परावर्तित होतो. कॅसेग्रेन टेलिस्कोपमध्ये, एक लहान, बहिर्वक्र दुय्यम आरसा मुख्य आरशात असणाऱ्या छिद्राद्वारे प्रकाश परत परावर्तित करतो.
