Description: O período orbital é o tempo que um objeto leva para completar uma órbita inteira em torno de outro objeto. Outra forma de expressar isso é dizer que é o tempo que um objeto leva para voltar ao mesmo ponto em sua órbita. Pode ser um planeta orbitando uma estrela central (por exemplo, a Terra orbitando o Sol); pode ser uma lua orbitando um planeta; pode ser uma estrela, um grupo de estrelas ou nebulosas orbitando o centro de uma galáxia; podem ser duas estrelas (binárias) orbitando seu centro de massa comum.
