Description: A estrutura atômica é a organização interna das partículas dentro de um átomo. Ela informa quantos nêutrons e prótons podem ser encontrados no núcleo de um átomo e descreve como cada uma dessas partículas é composta de quarks. Também mostra que os elétrons estão em movimento permanente em torno desse núcleo, em diferentes níveis de acordo com sua energia. Os átomos são eletricamente neutros porque têm o mesmo número de elétrons e prótons. Um átomo pode ficar carregado ao perder ou absorver um elétron e, nesse caso, ele se torna um íon.
