The Qatar Astronomy Olympiad is a leading informal astronomy education initiative, promoting inquiry-based learning through observation and hands-on projects. It serves middle and secondary students with age-appropriate activities from basic astronomy to introductory astrophysics, supported by teachers. Key initiatives: a 2024–2025 solar observation campaign enabling sunspot tracking and study of solar rotation, and a replication of Eratosthenes’ Earth circumference experiment between Qatar and Tanzania. Students also studied stellar classification and engaged in creative outputs such as art and educational theater. The program enhances scientific literacy, creativity, and STEM engagement through experiential learning.
