Description: نجم من النوع الطيفي "O". يتعرف علماء الفلك على النجوم من النوع O من خلال وجود خطوط امتصاص من الهيليوم المتأين في أطيافها. وتتراوح درجات الحرارة (الفعالة) النموذجية بين حوالي 10000 كلفن و 30000 كلفن. وبالمقارنة مع النجوم الأخرى، تبدو هذه النجوم بيضاء مائلة للزرقة للعين البشرية ما لم يكن الاحمرار بين النجوم أو احمرار الغلاف الجوي مهماً. النجوم من النوع O هي الأكثر حرارة وزرقة من التصنيفات الطيفية الرئيسية. وتتمتع النجوم من النوع O في التسلسل الرئيسي بأعلى الكتل (أكبر من حوالي 15 كتلة شمسية)، وأقصر عمر لحرق الهيدروجين، ونتيجة لذلك، توجد في الغالب في مناطق تكوين النجوم وحولها.
