Description: El trópico es una paralelo ubicado en las latitudes 23°26′11.2″ norte y 23°26′11.2″ sur. Hacia el norte y el sur de la línea del ecuador terrestre. Se denomina Trópico de Cáncer, al paralelo norte debido a la constelación por la que el Sol pasó, visto desde la Tierra, hace dos mil años. En este punto logró su mayor distancia a la línea del ecuador hacia el norte. Del mismo modo, cuándo el Sol lográ su mayor distancia hacia el hemisferio sur de la línea del ecuador alcanza el paralelo llamado Trópico de Capricornio.El nombre proviene de la constelación que alcanzó el Sol, visto desde la Tierra, en su mayor distancia al ecuadro hace dos mil años. La precesión del eje de la Tierra ha hecho que el Sol ya no se vea ni en Cáncer o Capricornio cuando llega a estos dos trópicos. La región comprendida entre el trópico de Cáncer y el trópico de Capricornio se denomina Zona Intertrpopical.
