Description: Um astronauta é uma pessoa qualificada para fazer parte de uma tripulação a bordo de um voo espacial. Os astronautas são treinados na operação de foguetes, estações espaciais e para resolver problemas técnicos especializados que são exclusivos de viagens fora da atmosfera da Terra. Eles geralmente são treinados para realizar experimentos científicos no espaço. Alguns astronautas chegaram a caminhar na Lua. O termo astronauta era originalmente usado para se referir às equipes espaciais dos Estados Unidos da América, mas hoje é um termo geral usado por vários países. As tripulações espaciais russas são chamadas de cosmonautas, as tripulações espaciais chinesas são geralmente chamadas de taikonautas e as tripulações espaciais europeias são chamadas de espacionautas.
