Glossary term: Outer Space

Description: Outer space, often shortened to "space", is the term for all regions within our Universe that lie beyond Earth's atmosphere. Spaceflight is the endeavor to fly suitable conveyances into and through outer space, and such conveyances are called spacecraft. Space sciences is an umbrella term for all branches of science that are concerned with space exploration, spaceflight, or astronomical bodies in outer space that may be reached by spacecraft, which includes astronomy and planetology.
