Glossary term: Galassia a disco
Description: Una galassia a disco è un tipo di galassia che presenta una componente piatta di stelle, gas e polveri, tutte in moto circolare complanare intorno al centro della galassia. In questi dischi sono spesso presenti bracci di spirale e attività di formazione stellare associata. Nella maggior parte degli schemi di classificazione delle galassie, le galassie a disco si distinguono dalle galassie ellittiche, irregolari e nane.
