Our NAEC Teams
Each National Astronomy Education Coordinator (NAEC)
team is tasked with helping the OAE document and analyze
how astronomy is used in teaching in its country or territory,
identifing existing relevant actions, organizing
professional development for teachers and developing
readily accessible and high-quality educational
material tailored to the specific needs of the
country or territory, and for specific groups and
school levels. NAEC teams also provide a link
between their national astronomy education
community, the OAE
and the IAU.
We currently have 310 NAECs representing 109 countries and territories.

The Office of Astronomy for Education is hosted by the Haus der Astronomie on the campus of the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy in Heidelberg. The Office of Astronomy for Education is an office of the International Astronomical Union, with substantial funding from the Klaus Tschira Foundation and the Carl Zeiss Foundation. The Shaw-IAU Workshops on Astronomy for Education are funded by the Shaw Prize Foundation.
